Key Appointments:
Deputy Mayor: From the Board of Trustees, I appoint a Deputy Mayor who serves as Acting Mayor in my absence or when necessary.
Village Treasurer: With the approval of the Village Board, I appoint the Village Treasurer, who oversees financial matters and ensures responsible management of village funds.
Village Clerk and Deputy Clerk: Similarly, I appoint the Village Clerk and Deputy Clerk, who play essential roles in maintaining official records, managing administrative tasks, and facilitating the smooth operation of village affairs.
Police Officers: In collaboration with the Village Board, I appoint Police Officers who uphold law and order, safeguard public safety, and serve as trusted guardians of our community.
Authority of the Village Board:
Under Section 4-412 of New York State Village Law, the Village Board of Trustees is granted broad authority to manage village property and finances. This includes the power to enact local laws and take measures deemed necessary for the overall welfare and governance of the village. The Village Board's authority encompasses various aspects, such as property management, financial oversight, public safety, and the promotion of community well-being.
As Mayor, I am committed to working closely with the Village Board and upholding the values of transparency, accountability, and community engagement in all our endeavors.
Together, we strive to ensure that the Village of Central Square remains a thriving, safe, and vibrant place to live, work, and play. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as Mayor.
